Outdoorsy has exceeded $2 billion in total transactions. The milestone comes following the company’s best year on record and the continued growth of its digital insurance brand Roamly.

Cavins was recognized as one of the ‘Most Innovative CEOs of 2022’ by Goldman Sachs at their Builders and Innovators summit on Oct. 12.

“We are inspired by the entrepreneurs building businesses on our platform and leveraging Outdoorsy tools, insurance, software and resources that power such a fast-growing network of businesses that provide access to the outdoors for thousands of Americans,” Outdoorsy CEO Jeff Cavins said.

Cavins said Outdoorsy listers start small, learn about RVs and gradually build rental businesses that help stimulate the RV industry as a whole.

“Imagine you are an RV dealer and your customers, are between the ages of 58 to 63. This might be the only RV they ever buy,” Cavins said. “But now, because of Outdoorsy, people show up and they are 33 years old. They will walk into the dealership and say, I need two pop-tops. I need a Class C. I need an Airstream and I need a camper van… and (a dealer) will say wait, what? They will say, I am on Outdoorsy, I have made a million dollars this year… I gotta build my fleet. And that is what is happening.”

Outdoorsy’s growth has accelerated since its founding in 2014, the company said.

Roamly, designed specifically to ensure RVs, is experiencing 200% growth year on year and the company is expanding its team of insurance agents, the company said. Roamly is close to being approved in all 50 states.

Cavins said, as the company grows, Outdoorsy is making connections within the RV industry to make the rental experience easier for consumers and listers.

“We have a relationship with RV Retailer. We like to send our customers to them and we really like their commitment to service,” Cavins said.

Outdoorsy listers have voiced concerns about the time it takes to get RVs repaired and how long the vehicles are out of commission, he said. The company decided to turn to Lippert for a solution.

“We are working with Lippert right now on a mobile tech solution,” Cavins said. “What they call a mobile RV tech center. They will come to your home and repair your RV in your driveway. That way it keeps the fleets going on Outdoorsy.”

The mobile Lippert RV Tech Center for Outdoorsy listers is being piloted in the San Diego, California area.

Outdoorsy celebrated its achievement of $1 billion in total transactions in March 2021.

According to Cavins, the company is driving $2 billion in gross domestic product.

“I think the success is really around the ecosystem.” Cavins said “You know, the idea is that if we can create a rising tide, and that rising tide lifts all boats, then then we all win. The manufacturers for Airstream, Winnebago and the others.”

Cavins said when Roamly entered the RV industry, the company wanted to do it with respect.

“Let us learn… Let us listen. Let us be very humble. Let us see if there is a way that we can bring digital innovation and a whole new customer base, due to the massive distribution of the platform, in a way that everybody benefits. Even the people who have been doing this for 50 years. Because we want to be a partner to the industry.”
