Jayco RV, Heartland RV and Thor Industries treated members of the Elkhart County Boys and Girls Clubs to RV tours at the Boys and Girls Clubs Elkhart and Middlebury Clubhouses on Wednesday for RV Days. A similar event is planned in July for the club in Nappanee.

The companies showcased three RVs and set up a campsite to simulate a real camping experience, according to the Elkhart County Boys and Girls Clubs. Members asked general questions about the RVs.

“The kids were very excited to see the different models. They loved looking at the features included, and some kids were amazed by what they saw,” said Jim Pinkerton, Boys and Girls Clubs of Elkhart County director of public relations and marketing. “For the younger kids, they had fun exploring and honking the horn on the big units.”

The Boys and Girls clubs provide a full schedule of programs throughout the year to help youth gain life skills, and leadership abilities, according to greatfuturesclub.com.

The Boys and Girls Club of Elkhart County is led by a group of trustees and board members from the local community.

“We are very grateful for our community partners in the RV industry for making this available to our members,” Pinkerton said. “Many of the kids have parents who work in the industry but may have never seen the products up close. It really helps foster an understanding about one of the major employers in our community.”
