Winegard is adding a new product to its RV Halo family. The smart RV ecosystem now includes the RV Halo Smart Hub. The Smart Hub joins the RV Halo app and RV Halo Smart Sensors.
The Smart Hub acts as a router which consumers connect their app and sensors. The Smart Hub has built-in GPS and Bluetooth features.
Winegard Product Manager Jarod Ford said RVs should include security systems similar to homes.
Ford said, “Since it is well adapted in the home, we know there is a need and a customer who wants to get those features remotely in the RV industry.”
Smart Hub’s GPS has geofencing capabilities to help consumers monitor their RVs, track and share their RV location and prevent thefts. The Smart Hub can report on the weather at the RV’s location. The device features up to a three-month battery backup and provides alerts if shore power is lost. The Smart Hub is equipped with a backup power system and route guidance memory, to recall where the RV traveled.
RV Halo Smart Sensors can be added to the Smart Hub system. Sensors will detect and monitor water intrusion, temperature and humidity, signal motion and contact closure.
Winegard Director of Sales for RV Aftermarket Keith Larson said, “If I have a pet in the RV and it gets above 80 degrees, then my RV alerts me. You can get that remote alert to your phone when you are not there.”
Smart Hub’s features are accessible remotely from the RV Halo app if RVers buy an RV Halo Pro Membership.

“You can use the app as a standalone app to run a lot of our products and connect to Wi-Fi, 4G and 5G,” Larson said. “Then you can add on that Pro membership, which gives you remote access for the Smart RV.”
Winegard partnered with Go Power and Bauer Bluetooth Locks to integrate features into RV Halo. Larson said the partnership with Bauer made sense because the company offer Bluetooth locks. Winegard is working towards consumers by locking their RVs remotely from the RV Halo app. The Go Power partnership provided consumers with solar charge controllers to access diagnostics from their controller system.
All RV Halo products will be sold to aftermarket retailers and dealers, with OEM possibilities in the future. Smart Hub will add leveling features, movement detection, collision and rollover prevention capabilities and excess speed monitoring.
With cell-based technology and low-cost membership, consumers can get remote access and notifications from anywhere.
