Xtreme Outdoors, home to the Little Guy brand of teardrop campers, expects to re-start its manufacturing operations starting May 18.

The company shared details about its plans to resume production Wednesday. Joe Kicos, director of sales for Xtreme Outdoors and founder of Little Guy, said May 18 is the earliest Xtreme Outdoors could resume production under Pennsylvania’s statewide reopening strategy.

Xtreme Outdoors employs around 35 workers at its factory in Somerset, PA.

“We’re going to gradually ramp up production,” Kicos said. “When you shut down a factory for six weeks where it’s completely shut down, it’s going to take some time to get back fully up and running.”

The operations will be opened in a way that prioritizes staff health and is compliant with all relevant regulations, Xtreme Outdoors announced, including those from the state regarding the re-opening of different counties in Pennsylvania.

Xtreme Outdoors also announced this week that it expects to re-launch the myPod camper by the end of June 2020. Kicos founded that brand and helped create the unique model of teardrop trailer years ago, he said.

“There has been an incredible amount of interest expressed in the myPod over the last few months and we are happy to launch the camper with a few new twists,” Kicos said.

Kicos said Xtreme Outdoors would like to thank its dealers and customers for their patience during the recent shutdown, and that the company looks forward to serving their needs.
