Families Planning Holiday Road Trips

A new survey from RVshare found that families are preparing for holiday road trips this year.

According to RVshare’s Holiday Travel Sentiment survey, almost half of respondents (47 percent) plan on traveling to visit family, with more than two-thirds (68 percent) saying they will travel by car or RV.

“This holiday season, RV rentals can be utilized for more than just leisure travel,” RVshare CEO Jon Gray stated. “RV rentals offer people not only a mode of transportation to go home for the holidays, but also a place to stay in order to social distance.”

The survey found that 55 percent of people are less confident about holiday travel plans compared with last year, and 80 percent already have decided they will not fly over the holidays.

More than half (53 percent) of travelers said they would consider renting an RV to visit family and stay in a family member’s driveway or nearby campground to social distance.

Although festive gatherings might look different this year, RV travel provides more options for those struggling to navigate travel for the holidays, RVshare stated. The use of RV rentals makes a long drive more comfortable by providing additional space and an in-unit bathroom to help limit public interactions.

RVshare is a peer-to-peer RV rental marketplace.
