Harbinger, an American automotive and industrial manufacturer that previously operated as Harbinger Motors, has launched Harbinger Industria, a new business line selling Harbinger battery technology as standalone energy storage and auxiliary power products.
Airstream is the first customer to integrate Harbinger’s energy storage technology. Airstream unveiled this week its new Trade Wind 27FB travel trailer, which features the Harbinger Power System. The RV is on display at the Florida RV SuperShow.
Harbinger co-founder and CEO John Harris said he is excited to bring the company’s battery technology to market with Airstream.
“By introducing automotive battery systems to the RV market, we are helping set a new standard for off-grid performance,” Harris said. “At the same time, we are demonstrating that high-quality, American-made battery systems can be delivered at a price point that makes sense for customers.”
Harbinger has previously worked with the RV industry. The company developed the EV platform used in Entegra Coach’s Embark hybrid Type A motorhome.

Airstream President and CEO Bob Wheeler said the new Trade Wind travel trailer benefits from Harbinger Industria’s products.
“The Airstream Trade Wind 27FB has the most capable off-grid electrical system we have ever offered in our travel trailer product line,” Wheeler said. “By integrating Harbinger’s industry-leading battery technology in our travel trailers, our customers can stay off-grid longer with confidence.”
Harbinger said The Trade Wind 27FB includes the Airstream travel trailer lineup’s largest battery capacity, 18,000-watt-hours. The trailer has 600 watts of solar panel power and a 5,000-watt inverter.
Harbinger designs and manufactures its proprietary high-voltage battery system at its California factory. Harbinger’s batteries feature lithium-ion cells from Panasonic Energy. Harbinger Power Systems are built to automotive-grade standards. Harbinger said meeting these standards ensures the company’s products deliver durable, safety-critical performance over years of continuous operation.
The company said the Harbinger Power System continuously monitors system health and ambient conditions, automatically managing battery performance. The system’s intelligent control of high- and low-voltage states helps prevent depletion. A liquid-based thermal system protects the battery from extreme temperatures.
A custom display provides real-time visibility into system health, energy use and power availability across batteries, shore power and solar.
