High School Students Introduced to RV Tech Career Path Through RVTI

Mark Podeyn of Action RV in New Mexico speaks to high school students about a career path as an RV techician on behalf of RVTI

Action RV, Bosque, New Mexico hosted more than 25 students from a local high school’s trade class at its RV repair center. The students were introduced to the idea of a career as an RV technician as part of the RV Technical Institute (RVTI) mission to recruit students.RV Technical Institute Logo

Mark Podeyn, CEO of Action RV, was instrumental in the development of the new RVTI curriculum before the Institute launched. Podeyn is volunteers on behalf of RVTI to address the shortage of trained RV technicians in the industry. During the visit to Action RV, students first watched a presentation about the skills and knowledge needed to be a successful technician. They toured the repair facility and walked through RVs scheduled for repairs to familiarize themselves with the scope and variety of units. They also participated in demonstrations by technicians of what shop tools and equipment are used in a technician’s average day.

Podeyn says the experience of an in-person visit to an RV dealership or repair facility, combined with information about the comprehensive training program, curriculum and career path provided by the RVTI, creates a compelling case for students to consider. Following the tour, multiple students inquired about internship opportunities and summer job opportunities at the repair facility.
