DA Davidson, a full-service investment firm, conveyed a positive outlook for the commercial vehicle chassis sector, which includes RV chassis built for Type A and Type C motorhomes.
The firm’s Market Update Specialty Vehicles for March found class 5-7 commercial truck and van chassis availability significantly improved from the constrained levels experienced post-pandemic.
“Upfitters are adjusting to the new environment,” the report said, “to work down backlogs and improve delivery lead times.”
The report found the 12 months ending in January 2025 saw class 5-7 commercial truck chassis production increase about 2% from the previous year’s period. Inventory increase over 15% during the same time period, with production outpacing orders.
The report found class 5-7 commercial van chassis production decreased 25% in the 12 months ending in January 2025 compared with the previous year’s period. Orders increased 20% in the 12 months ending in January 2025.
An article by Investing.com said DA Davison’s findings could benefit Rev Group and Shyft Group, among others.
“As the industry moves past a previously low point,” the story said, “the notable uptick in production and orders could herald a prosperous season ahead for key manufacturers in the space.”
