ObeCo Inc., parent company to OrganizedObie.com, has announced a new partnership with the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation: Elkhart Program. This joint venture will allow Toys for Tots to collect, store and redistribute toys for needy children in the Elkhart community.

“The ObeCo team is excited to partner with Toys for Tots in hosting their program for our area,” ObeCo President Jason Obendorf says. “To assist in bringing a smile on a child’s face this Christmas is what we’re all about.”

Wes Young, the Elkhart County Toys for Tots coordinator, says, “We are excited about establishing our new headquarters at ObeCo. Our program and need has grown tremendously within our area the past few years and Jason was gracious enough to let us use his facility and to provide us with all that we need. We have been overwhelmed with his generosity.”

Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charity, is the fundraising, funding and support organization for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. The Foundation was created at the behest of the U. S. Marine Corps and provides support in accordance with a Memorandum of Understanding with the Commander, Marine Forces Reserve, who directs the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. The Foundation has supported Toys for Tots since 1991.

The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted. Former Marine Wes Young and his wife Kathy have been working with the program for 23 years. All toys that are donated in Elkhart County, stay in Elkhart County.

Toys for Tots has a few toys already collected but the first main drop-off and collection is this Saturday, Dec. 7, with distribution on the following Saturday, Dec. 14.

“Last year we were able to provide toys to 2,287 children last year with a record number of 10,888 toys distributed,” Young says.

Obendorf says, “We are so glad we could make this happen for Toys for Tots this year. We plan on this being a long and joyful relationship.”
