National Powersports Auctions’ (NPA) July RV Pre-Owned Report said wholesale auction volume increased in May as the summer RV season approached.
The report said auction volumes rose 3.7% in May from the previous month. The June report showed volume and price increases, with wholesale prices up 4% in April from the previous month.
“Dealers may have greater pricing leverage than earlier in the year when inventory was plentiful, and discounts were more common,” the report said. “For used units, expect prices to maintain their seasonal rise from spring lows.”
NPA said dealers should focus on quality, showroom-ready used RVs to meet consumer demand. Top-quality used RVs will be desired, NPA said, because of the significant price gap between new and used RVs.
“The condition of pre-owned inventory is key to reselling,” NPA said. “Buyers are looking for value. A well-maintained, clean unit will sell faster and command a better price.”
NPA slated 15 live auctions in July, beginning with auctions in Atlanta and San Diego on Thursday. All auctions start at 9 a.m. local time.
