RV Sponsorship Requested to Support Pediatric Cancer Patients

Supporting pediatric cancer patients is the goal of Cody O’Connor, a 25-year-old who is 10 years post treatment. O’Connor will embark on a cross-country journey in June and is requesting sponsorships, including RV transportation.

The “Walk for Hope” initiative kicks off June 17, where O’Connor will trek from New York to Los Angeles during a four-month trip. Along the way, he plans to document the journey through social media, a blog series and video footage while meeting and talking with community members. Proceeds from funds raised will go to nonprofit Champions Do Overcome, directly benefitting pediatric cancer patients.

“The walk stands for never giving up – no matter what people tell you, always try to take that next step to overcome the odds you are facing,” O’Connor said.

O’Connor said his cancer diagnosis affected not only him, but his entire family. His parents were forced to file for bankruptcy despite working full-time to provide for O’Connor’s six siblings. In 2018, O’Connor founded Champions Do Overcome with a mission to provide financial and emotional assistance to families facing cancer.

O’Connor is preparing for the 22 miles per day he plans to average during his trek. Walk for Hope sponsorships still needed include RV or rental transportation, gas/fuel, audio gear and more.

Those interested in sponsoring can contact O’Connor directly at [email protected]. Find more information about Walk for Hope here.
