Connecting elected officials with RVDA of Canada members in every province is one way the association is raising awareness.
RVDA of Canada said the association’s government relations team will identify key members and explore opportunities for meetings or dealership visits.
RVDA of Canada said, “Whether you are highlighting supply chain issues, cross-border trade concerns, skilled labor shortages or economic uncertainty, your story matters. It is more compelling when it comes directly from local business owners like you.”
Canadian RV dealers can represent their own businesses and the entire industry by engaging with Members of Parliament. Dealers interested in participating in such meetings can email [email protected].
The association said, “It is about making sure every elected official understands the value our industry brings to jobs, tourism and communities across Canada.”.
Before any meeting, RVDA of Canada’s government regulations team can help members prepare a short briefing note, suggested talking points and background on the MP’s role.
The Canadian government has launched a pre-budget consultation, which will focus on boosting economic growth and improving government efficiency. Canadians have been invited to share priorities by completing a short questionnaire or providing a formal submission by Aug. 28. Click here for the survey or for a formal submission.
The association’s federal budget recommendations include developing a national skilled trades strategy in partnership with the provinces; investing in modern RV infrastructure at national parks; fixing the GST/HST cross-border tax ambiguity under the Excise Tax Act; and reclassifying small, seasonal campgrounds as active businesses eligible for the small business tax deduction.
