RVshare’s latest survey, conducted in partnership with Wakefield Research, surveyed 500 children ages 5-15. Nearly two-thirds (64%) of respondents look to be vacation decision-makers, the survey found, with children weighing in on all vacation planning aspects.

The survey found 64% said they wanted to have a say in where the vacation is, with 82% citing going on new adventures as their favorite family travel activity.

“Family travel fuels so much of our business, and we know kids have strong opinions but wondered if travel was something they wanted to weigh-in on,” said RVshare CEO Jon Gray. “We asked kids directly what aspects of travel they want to influence, remember and cherish. New adventures with loved ones are at the top of the list and RVshare is a perfect facilitator for that.”

The survey found 71% of older children, ages 13-15, wanting to decide vacation destinations, more than the 63% of younger children. One-fifth of children ages 9-12 say they have more say on the vacation destination than the adults. The total compares to 12% of those 5-8 and 7% of those 13-15.

RVshare will share survey findings through the company’s first Resident Kid Counselor, 9-year-old Alex Wong of California.

“My favorite part of traveling is getting to spend time with my family and trying new activities outdoors,” Wong said. “I recently went on an RV vacation with my family, and it was awesome.”
