SDG unveiled its patent-pending backpack. The DC-powered HVAC system is built for overland vans, RVs and specialty vehicles.

The backpAC mounts to the vehicle’s rear, which can free rooftop space for solar panels or pop-top conversions.

According to SDG, the backpAC provides 20,000 BTUs of cooling capacity, 7,000 BTUs of heating power and 500-plus cubic feet per minute (CFMs) of airflow that can be ducted.

SDG said, “The system’s ultra-rugged design is engineered to withstand punishing off-road conditions, ensuring reliable performance wherever the trail leads.”

The product includes digital controls. An optional upgrade provides RVC integration or a Wi-Fi smart thermostat for app-based control.

SDG President Kevin Searer said, “With the backpAC, we have created a system that meets the demands of modern overland adventurers. It is powerful, efficient, smart and rugged.”
