Lobbying efforts from industry trade groups such as RVIA led the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) to reinstate tariff exclusions in trade with China.

USTR previously extended 549 exclusions under a Section 301 investigation of China’s acts, policies, and practices related to technology transfer, intellectual property, and innovation by excluding certain products from additional duties.

USTR asked for comments on whether to extend exclusions that expired after Dec. 31, 2021. In a Federal Register notice, USTR will reinstate certain previously extended exclusions through Dec. 31, 2022.

The reinstated product exclusions announced in this notice will apply as of Oct. 12, 2021, RVIA said, and extend through Dec. 31, 2022. U.S. Customs and Border Protection will issue instructions on entry guidance and implementation.
