RVDA said workshops slated for the upcoming RVDA Convention/Expo in Las Vegas will help dealers better understand how to stay out of the courtroom.
RVDA said both sessions will discuss improving compliance, enhancing professionalism and using mediation to settle disputes.
The first session, “Super Lawyers Take You Into the Sales and F&I Office: How to Prevent Common Consumer Claims During the Sale,” is from 2 to 4 p.m. Nov. 12. The skit-based training session will bring real-world scenarios from the sales and F&I offices to life. The workshop will show the wrong and right ways to handle challenging customer situations.
Panel members include Harold Oehler, certified mediator and RV industry trainer; Jim Ganther, Mosaic Compliance Services; Jane Saxon, managing director and retail and manufacturing service team leader for the central region of CBIZ CPAs & Advisors; and Debbie Brunoforte, regional vice president of Campers Inn RV.
Attendees will identify and avoid compliance traps and unfair or deceptive trade practices. Presenters will show how to prevent common consumer lawsuits through proper sales and F&I practices. Techniques to provide customers with a more professional and compliant sales experience will be demonstrated.
The second session, from 8 to 9 a.m. Nov. 13, is “How to Conduct the Perfect Vehicle Inspection and Mediation to Defend a Consumer Claim and Retain Your Customer.”
Oehler will instruct dealers on how to train sales and F&I teams to prevent consumer lawsuits. The workshop will cover resolving customer complaints from an RV’s sale and financing. Dealers will also learn to work effectively with manufacturers to defend consumer claims.
