Tiffin Motorhomes has built its proprietary PowerGlide chassis for its Type A diesel motorhomes since the company began manufacturing Type A diesel motorhomes. Beginning in January 2024, Tiffin will solicit Freightliner Custom Chassis Corp.’s (FCCC) help in building its PowerGlide Chassis.

In a partnership revealed Wednesday, the companies said FCCC will be “instrumental” in PowerGlide’s manufacturing and nationwide service. The chassis will be built by FCCC. Tiffin will collaborate on chassis designs with FCCC. The new chassis will be unveiled in January 2024 at the Tampa RV SuperShow.

“After many thoughtful discussions with my grandfather, Bob, and my dad, Van, we believe we can take our signature PowerGlide chassis to even greater heights by announcing a special partnership with FCCC,” said Leigh Tiffin, president of Tiffin Motorhomes. “FCCC has been a long-trusted partner of Tiffin Motorhomes, which is why we are confident they are the right partner to take PowerGlide to the next level.”

In a video released with the announcement, Leigh Tiffin said the manufacturer wants to be a premium full-line motorized manufacturer. He said that means the company wants to be a great body builder and assemble a phenomenal motorhome.

FCCC’s progress and innovation in the Class A chassis space over the past decade has been exciting to watch.

“We have lA picture of Leigh Tiffin talking about Freightliner Partnershipistened to customers and we have heard what you have to say,” Leigh Tiffin said in the video. “Everyone wants better safety, more ride handling, more integrated technology into your chassis. And you want better service. You want a place to get it serviced anywhere in North America, when you need it done.”

Bringing FCCC onboard enables Tiffin’s Type A motorhomes to include the supplier’s proprietary products, including:

  • RoadWatch, FCCC’s leading-edge, integrated technology and safety suite featuring proven stability and traction control, collision mitigation and adaptive cruise control
  • DriveTech, the first RV driving system to maximize safety by putting every command in one easy-to-reach location

Tiffin Motorhomes said the new partnership with FCCC will enable the luxury RV manufacturer to maintain PowerGlide’s legacy of exclusive engineering and design while elevating the customer experience with FCCC’s nationwide service and parts distribution centers, collaborative engineering resources and premium components exclusive to Tiffin.

“FCCC’s progress and innovation in the Class A chassis space over the past decade has been exciting to watch,” Leigh Tiffin said. “Their advanced manufacturing processes demonstrate their commitment to the highest quality, while their nationwide service network will help enhance and expand the legendary customer service and support Tiffin PowerGlide customers expect. This partnership allows us to preserve our proud customer legacy and, at the same time, focus on what we want to be the best in the world at.”

FCCC President and CEO Jeff Sather said the company was thrilled to enter into the partnership.

“This partnership truly brings the best of FCCC and Tiffin together,” Sather said, “enabling both companies to focus on what they do best while benefiting from their shared cultures of pride of workmanship, attention to detail and doing things right the first time.”
