The Kindlund family boosted its contribution to the Mike Molino RV Learning Center Kindlund Family College Scholarship Program to $370,000.
Newt Kindlund and his late wife Joanne founded Holiday RV Superstores, Inc. in 1987. The business was the industry’s first national retail dealership chain.
Today, Kindlund is director emeritus for the RV Learning Center Board of Directors. He was inducted into the RV/MH Hall of Fame in 2003.
Since the Kindlund scholarship’s inception in 2000, the RV Learning Center has awarded $82,500 in scholarships to 33 students. At that level, the scholarship program will continue to provide funding to candidates for the next century.
Kindlund said, “We are pleased to add additional funding to the scholarship endowment that will ensure that this program can continue to help students connected to the RV business to pursue a rewarding career.”
The program’s scholarship committee assesses applicants’ RV industry involvements/plans to seek employment in the industry, academic achievements, extracurricular activities/honors and financial need. Applicants must submit a 500-word essay on their post-college goals and objectives.
Candidates must be a rising undergraduate sophomore, junior or senior. Recipients are awarded $2,500 each. The application sheet will be available March 1, and the scholarship deadline is July 11.
RVDA President Phil Ingrassia said, “By funding this scholarship program, Newt Kindlund continues to demonstrate his commitment to the RV industry in a very meaningful way.”
