The average selling prices for motorized and towable RV units declined this month, according to the June Black Book Report.

Over the past several months, economic analysts have been discussing inflation, falling stocks, high fuel prices and a possible coming recession, said Eric Lawrence, Black Book principal analyst, Specialty Markets.

“Against this gloomy backdrop, the values of both motorized and towable RVs declined from the previous month,” Lawrence said. “Auction volume was down as well, which is not terribly unusual for this time of year.”

The average selling price for towables in May was down 3.2% from the previous month. The average selling price was $20,196, down $687 from the previous month. One year ago in May, the average selling price was $23,176, 14.8% higher than May 2022.

The average selling price for all types of motorhomes in May was down 6% from the previous month. The average selling price was $68,948, down $4,402 from the previous month. One year ago in May, the selling price was $68,623.

Auction volume for towables declined 3.8% from April 2022 while motorhome volume fell 21.7% from April 2022. The average age of towables sold was six years while the average motorhome sold was 12 years old.
