Garmin International, Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. has launched the Garmin RV 795 and RVcam 795.

The RVcam 795 is an all-in-one navigator with a built-in high-definition dash cam. The new RV 795 GPS navigator provides consumers with the same navigation benefits as the RVcam 795 but removes the built-in dash camera and camera-related features.

Garmin began to concept the RV 795 GPS navigator and the RVcam 795 approximately one year ago.

With both technologies, Garmin aims to help RV consumers navigate the last mile of their trips. RVers have reported the last mile is usually the most stressful section of their journeys whether they are towing a fifth wheel or driving a motorhome, Senior Product Manager Eric Miller said.

Each 795 product features a 7-inch display, 1080p HD video recording, and a wide 140-degree field of view to capture a broad picture of the road ahead, Garmin said.

The RVcam 795 navigator is designed for RVers.

“We are laser-focused on making life easier for the customer,” Miller said.

RVers can use the devices to plan their arrivals by downloading satellite imagery around a chosen destination and seeing exactly where they want to go.

The RVcam computer vision alerts drivers of lane departures and possible collisions.

Consumers can:

  • Find road options with custom routing for the size and weight of the RV
  • Receive alerts for upcoming steep grades, animal crossings, sharp curves and speed changes
  • Use satellite imagery for high-resolution overhead views of a campground or RV park to help with a smooth arrival
  • Access a preloaded RV parks and services database, TripAdvisor traveler ratings, KOA campgrounds and a U.S. national park directory
  • View loyalty reward points for select travel plazas, including Pilot Travel Centers, LLC across the U.S. with the Garmin Drive app

Once plugged in, the RVcam 795 camera continually records and saves video. Saved videos are stored automatically in a secure online vault. Drivers can view and share clips using the Garmin Drive smartphone app.

The RV795 and RVcam 795 integrate with the Garmin BC50 and Garmin BC50 with night vision series backup cameras the company released in June. The backup cameras clip onto a vehicle’s rear license plate to help drivers see behind their rigs, Miller said. The BC 50 with night vision offers Garmin’s proprietary NightGlo technology that can illuminate up to 20 feet behind a vehicle for visibility at night or in dark settings.

“Pairing the RVcam 795 with the BC50 with night vision is a match made in heaven,” Miller said. “It is a great solution for towables.”

Available now, the RVcam 795 has a suggested retail price of $599.99. The RV 795 has a suggested retail price of $449.99.

“We are excited about this series of all-in-one navigators, which combines our best-in-class car and RV navigation features with a sharp, built-in dash cam, giving you confidence that you’ll have video proof of unexpected incidents,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin vice president of global consumer sales. “Whether you’re making the morning commute to work or a trek across the country with the family, these navigators bring greater peace of mind to your time on the road.”
