Cummins Inc. will display its new hybrid power system for the RV industry at the Florida RV SuperShow Jan. 18, in Tampa, Florida.

The concept power system blends lithium-ion battery technology with Onan RV generators. The integrated power package provides reduced emissions, silent operation and smart load management, the company said.

Cummins’ concept display will feature an Onan QG 2800i generator, a 6,700 killowatt-hour automotive-grade lithium-ion battery pack and a distribution hub. The power distribution hub contains the inverter, converter and charger components in a single package size.

Combining the 2,800 kilowatt generator with the lithium-ion battery gives RVers the same accessible power as a larger 5,000 kilowatt generator with fewer emissions and less noise or vibration, Cummins said. The smart system is solar ready for up to 500 watts of solar input.

“In order to make people’s lives better by powering a more prosperous world, the exploration of new technology is not only the right move for our business, but vital for a road to a more sustainable future,” said Theodosia Rush, general manager Cummins mobile power.

According to Cummins, the hybrid power system helps campers stay off-grid longer without running out of power. The onboard generator ensures those batteries never deplete to zero charge, the company said.

Pairing Onan generators and lithium-ion technology directly supports a cleaner environment and reaching a world with net-zero emissions, the company said.

To solidify Cummins commitment to the RV industry, the Power Systems segment has aligned a cross-functional experts group focused entirely on delivering optimized auxiliary power solutions for recreational and commercial vehicles.
