A new program was unveiled at Kampgrounds of America (KOA) to help campground owners with employees’ soft skills training.
The company’s new Campfire Service program will provide owners and management with tools to create a “rewarding” camping experience that supports KOA’s mission of connecting people to each other and the outdoors.
Campfire Service includes four modules that focus on different guest service aspects, and can be delivered digitally by KOA locations at any time. The company stated the new program was created to “empower” employees to offer exceptional service. The program includes training from foundational communication elements to tips for working with difficult guests
“When a camper chooses KOA, there is a high expectation of service and it is crucial that we provide what campgrounds need to deliver on that,” KOA Franchise Chief Operations Officer Darin Uselman said. “The Campfire Service training program’s curated lesson plans can be offered in a way that works easily into any campground training program and definitely achieves that goal.”
Campfire Service courses can be self-guided through KOA’s proprietary training software available to all company locations. The courses can be moderated with special content and discussion questions.
“We know every KOA campground is different, so we try to design our programs with that in mind,” Uselman said. “Whether you are a large campground training an entire staff or a smaller location onboarding a single front desk attendant, these courses help campgrounds deliver on the high level of service that is expected at KOA.”
