Omni-channel retailer Batteries Plus signed an agreement with global lithium battery company RELiON Battery just in time for National Battery Day on Feb. 18, the company stated.

The agreement will allow RELiON’s lithium products to be sold in select U.S. stores. Batteries Plus stated its goal to provide customers with an alternative to conventional lead-acid products as consumer demand for lithium increases.

Lithium batteries are inherently lightweight, have a longer lifespan and charge quickly, the company stated, among other benefits.

“As the nation’s leading battery retailer, we are always looking for opportunities to build mutually beneficial partnerships and that is exactly what RELiON offers,” Batteries Plus VP of Category Management Shawn Budiac said. “As a leader in manufacturing lithium iron phosphate batteries, RELiON offers a high-quality solution for our customers looking to elevate their battery needs for outdoor recreational vehicles, solar energy systems and commercial applications.”

RELiON is creating innovative options for high-power applications such as RVing, electric vehicles, solar, overland, bass fishing, sailing and more. Batteries Plus stated the company’s offerings are built to withstand harsh environmental elements while being maintenance-free and efficient.

“We are thrilled to bring our lithium battery solutions to Batteries Plus customers across the U.S.,” RELiON’s CEO Paul Hecimovich said. “RELiON and Batteries Plus have the same goal: to provide reliable, long-lasting power so customers can go where they want, when they want with ease. We look forward to this partnership and continuing to bring industry-leading lithium batteries to the forefront.”

Batteries Plus will offer its customers RELiON’s lithium products, including 12V, 24V and 48V batteries to power various equipment. In addition, the company noted that RELiON donates 1 percent of its annual revenue to nonprofits working toward environmental sustainability efforts.
