Black Book’s RV Market Commentary for April 2024 yielded varying results in wholesale auction values. While motorhome values increased, towable values declined.

Black Book Specialty Vehicles Principal Automotive Analyst Eric Lawrence said, “We typically expect to see an uptick in the spring, as dealers begin to stock their lots for the first wave of shoppers.”

In February 2024, the motorhome selling price increased by 3.1% compared with January 2024, landing at $55,203. The auction volume was up by 22.5% compared with January.

The current price is 11.9% lower than one year ago, when motorhomes’ average wholesale price totaled $62,690.

The average motorhome model year sold in February 2024 was 2015.

Towable values did not follow the same trend. The average towable selling price decreased by 0.8% in February 2024 compared with January 2024. The average sales price was $18,167. One year ago, the average selling price was $21,077.

Auction volume increased by 11.9% compared with the month prior. The average model year sold was 2019.

“Many dealers we have spoken to are still working on moving their remaining 2023 model year inventory,” Lawrence said, “so this year’s rise may be delayed or less noticeable than in years past.”
