Canada Quarterly Shipments Double

The Canadian Recreational Vehicle Association reported RV wholesale shipments into Canada for the third quarter ending Sept. 30, 2021 totaled 14,245 units.

The total is a 103.7% increase from 6,995 shipments in the third quarter of 2020. Total RV wholesale shipments into Canada year as of Sept. 30 was 44,347, up 120.6% from 20,101 units in 2020.

The largest increase of year-to-date shipments was in the travel trailer category, reporting a 136.6% increase to 35,082 wholesale shipments. The country received 14,825 such shipments in 2020.

The largest decrease for any single category was in truck campers, which fell from 517 shipments in 2020 to 501 in 2021.

According to Statistical Surveys Inc and RVDA of Canada, retail activity during the third quarter totaled 15,239 units. When compared with the wholesale shipment figure of 14,245, Canadian RV dealer inventory levels decreased slightly during the quarter.

The Canadian RVDA expects dealer inventory levels will start to build in the fourth quarter and into 2022. However, the association stated it expects this process to take the next one to two years for inventories to return to historical industry levels.
