CDK Global President and CEO Brian Krzanich has resigned after the company’s sale to Brookfield Business Partners closed last week.

Brookfield announced the acquisition in April for $8.3 billion. Krzanich was named president and CEO of CDK Global in 2018.

Brian P. MacDonald – whom Krzanich succeeded as president and CEO – was appointed acting president and CEO following Krzanich’s resignation.

“We are pleased to welcome Brian MacDonald, a respected executive with deep expertise in automotive retail, back to CDK,” said Doug Bayerd, Director, CDK Global’s Board of Directors. “He joins an experienced team to help enhance CDK’s value proposition for its customers.”

MacDonald was CDK Global’s President and CEO between 2016 and late 2018, overseeing a transformation effort which created a solid foundation for future growth, the company said. Prior to CDK, he served as president and CEO for a diverse set of companies including Hertz and Sunoco.

“CDK is a mission-critical software platform for automotive commerce with a bright future, and I am excited about our path forward and accelerated growth,” MacDonald said.
