Chassis Maker Reports Share Gains Despite Challenges

The Shyft Group, parent company of Spartan RV Chassis, reported growing market share as the supplier continues to face semiconductor chip challenges.

The Shyft Group CEO Daryl Adams said the semi chip shortage has affected the vehicle industry more than a year, yet shortages linger.

“We expect these conditions to remain throughout 2022,” Adams said, “directly impacting our production as a chassis to supply that is critical to our products.”

Despite the challenges, Adams said the company’s Specialty Vehicle segment, including Spartan RV Chassis, performed extremely well. The Shyft Group reported strong growth and market share improvement in its motorhome business despite chassis supply constraints.

“We continued to gain share in the motorhome market, which increased to 33.7%, continuing a string of sequential quarterly growth,” Adams said. “Overall, our target segments of the RV market remain healthy, with motorhome dealer inventory at historic lows, which gives us confidence for the remainder of the year.”
