Dometic Reports OEM Sales Drop

Dometic President and CEO Juan Vargues said the supplier’s third-quarter sales slowed, in part because of an expected decline in sales to RV OEMs.

The company does not break out OE sales and aftermarket sales by global region. Dometic said RV OEM sales accounted for 23% of its third-quarter 2022 business, down from 31% of third-quarter 2021 sales.

“We are optimistic about the long-term trends in the Mobile Living industry and we are encouraged by the results generated from our strategic actions,” Vargues said. “However, it is difficult to predict how the current macroeconomic situation, including high inflation and geopolitical uncertainty, will impact the business in the short term.”

In its Segment Americas, including the U.S., third-quarter sales rose 1.6% in climate products, nearly doubling the segment’s food and beverage sales, which fell 2.7% in the quarter from the third quarter of 2021.

Power and control products rose 12.6% in the quarter from the third quarter of 2021.

“We expect a gradual recovery of the demand in service and aftermarket coming quarters and a continued stable development in distribution,” Vargues said. “In OEM, we foresee a continued weakened demand coming quarters. In this challenging environment we are actively balancing our capacity with market demand.”
