The product has been used globally for 30 years to provide safe drinking water for international organizations and aid agencies in developing countries, Earthsafe said, as well as for emergency water treatment during natural disasters.

“We also felt there was a real market for Aquatabs in the recreational market,” Earthsafe CEO Steve Wilson said. “We will certainly respond to emergencies, but our real focus is now on the recreational market which includes RVs, camping, hunting and boating.”

Aquatabs kills 99.99% of microorganisms. They are effective against bacteria, viruses, yeast, fungi, mycobacteria and spores. The tablets do not contain heavy metals, are iodine-free and biodegradable.

The product’s simplicity makes it attractive, Wilson said, and customers say the water tastes better than water treated with iodine. To use, consumers follow package instructions and drop tablets into the water to be treated.  The tablets dissolve clear and the water is ready to drink in 30 minutes.

“Many consumers do not know the quality of the water they are putting in their tank,” Earthsafe Global VP of Sales Rich Prinz said. “That quality decreases day after day. Aquatabs not only purifies the water but extends it an extra five to 10 days on average.”

The product is manufactured in Ireland with sodium dichloroisocyanurate (NaDCC) as the active ingredient. The tablets are U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) registered and they are Certified NSF Standard 60 which ensures products are safe for consumers and the environment.

Many RV consumers use bleach and water to disinfect their tanks, Wilson said, but that can cause damage.

“If you start using bleach and use it too long, you can damage surfaces, which is not good for the tank or the seals,” Wilson said. “Consumers just do not know that this neutral Ph tablet can be used in place of bleach for disinfection of the grey and the black tanks while also providing clean drinking water while you are in route.”

EarthSafe plans to partner with distributors who already serve the RV market and directly with RV dealers, including parts and accessory dealers, Wilson said.

“Our relationship with our distributors is very important,” Wilson said. “We pride ourselves on those relationships, whether it is supporting them with our in-house marketing or even lead generation for that matter. We work hard to send business to our distributors.”

Available in various sizes including packs of 100 containing tablets that each purify up to 16 quarts of water, the product can be retailed in shelf units, clip strips or towers.
