Freightliner Custom Chassis Corp. (FCCC) President and CEO Jeffrey Sather will retire on May 3 after 23 years with Daimler Truck North America (DTNA). DTNA is the vehicle manufacturer of brands such as Freightliner Trucks and Western Star Trucks.

Sather worked in numerous positions within the company throughout his career.

His journey at DTNA began in 2001 after 10 years working at PACCAR, Inc.- a heavy duty truck manufacturer, best known for its Kenworth and Peterbuilt-branded trucks.

He started at DTNA as an accounting director but progressed into a new director role overseeing the truck market and revenue controlling. As the general manager of controlling, he oversaw the manufacturer’s custom chassis division’s finances which included the RV segment.

In 2018, he took the helm of the DTNA’s subsidiary, when he assumed the role of FCCC president and CEO. Sather used his finance, sales, marketing and manufacturing experience to the subsidiary to lead the FCCC team over the next six-plus years.

DTNA Senior Vice President of Operations and Head of Specialty Vehicles Jeff Allen said Sather “has shown exceptional leadership and resilience in the face of evolving responsibilities. Throughout his career, he has tackled new challenges with grit and determination, which has enabled him to successfully lead FCCC to the market leadership position it is in today.”

In a 2021 RVIA article, Sather said, “This is only possible by building trust and connection with team members. One thing I have learned is that leaders are only as good as their people and their ability to connect and work with them.”Picture of Jeff Sather, president of Freightliner Custom Chassis

He led his team to craft chassis with new features such as FCCC’s DriveTech and V-Ride rear suspension systems.

In the RVIA article, Sather said, “If you do not produce a high-quality product, you will not survive in the RV industry.”

Sather joined the RVIA Board of Directors in March 2018. He began serving on the association’s Public and Legislative Affairs Committee in the same year.

Sather was elected as an RVIA supplier board member in September 2022. He remains on the RVIA Board of Directors today.

FCCC has not announced who will replace Sather’s as president but stated an announcement will be made at the appropriate time. All other FCCC leaders remain in place and the company projects all ongoing technological chassis innovations currently being developed will continue throughout 2024 and beyond.
