EXCLUSIVE: Grech RV Experience Set for Tampa

Luxury Type B manufacturer Grech RV will host its first Grech RV Experience on Jan. 13-18 at the Motor Enclave in Tampa, Florida.

Vice President A.J. Thurber said the Grech RV Experience will be an annual event tied to the Florida RV SuperShow.

“The Tampa show is our largest and most successful show of the year,” Thurber said. “It is a great audience, especially for higher-end products.”

Thurber said Grech RV began using the show as an opportunity to host an owners’ dinner. Many owners, he said, flew in for the dinner and flew home the next day. Grech RV executives discussed hosting a larger event to celebrate the brand, its dealers and its owners.

“We discovered the Motor Enclave, which is only an eight-minute drive from the Florida State Fairgrounds,” Thurber said. “We have the facility secured for the whole week, and we will use it as an opportunity to do ride and drives with prospective owners, host an owners’ rally and introduce our new products, but the owners’ rally was our primary motivation.”

Thurber said the company had registered more than 200 owners for the rally by mid-December and expects approximately 1,000 people for the week-long event.

The 200-acre Motor Enclave features a racetrack, off-road trails and an event center. All will be put to use during the Grech RV Experience. Thurber said the luxury vans will not be racing, but the track will provide a road course to showcase the motorhomes’ drivability and handling.

“We do not make off-road adventure vans, but our goal on the trails is to show our customers how the vans handle and perform in a light off-road situation, like dirt roads,” Thurber said. “Everything we build is all-wheel drive on the Mercedes Sprinter van platform.”

The Grech RV Experience will provide dealers and consumers with chances to see the company’s new RVs. Grech will also have its regular display at the Florida RV SuperShow.

Thurber said Grech RV will provide shuttles for dealers and owners between the sites.

“We will be at the Motor Enclave every year going forward during the Tampa show,” Thurber said. “This is definitely going to be an annual event where we can host our owners’ rally every year.”

Grech will introduce the Vacanza Dash Ion, available in 19-, 22- and 24-foot models. Other Vacanza specifics have not yet been released. The new model launch presentation is scheduled for 10 a.m. Jan. 13.

“That will be the star of the show for our dealers,” Thurber said. “We will be rolling out the 2027 model year units at the show, as well.”

The Grech RV Experience will present daily supplier and technical seminars from companies including Mercedes-Benz, Lithionics, and Victron Energy.

Thurber said Grech RV developed after the pandemic. Grech Motors provided high-end shuttle buses to limousine companies and tour bus operators. The pandemic eliminated needing to move people in large quantities. Grech Motors pivoted to building Type B motorhomes.

“In 2020, we prototyped our first Sprinter-based Class B,” Thurber said. “We shipped a couple of units that December and started building out our dealer network. It really took off in 2021. We have only been at it for a few years, but we have taken a lot of market share from our competitors in that time.”

Thurber said after-sales support sets Grech RV apart. The company sells through a network of 15 dealer groups with 62 U.S. stores. Grech RV reaches out to consumers after the sale and asks to be consumers’ first contact point for questions, concerns or warranty needs.

“Our dealers love it,” Thurber said. “We are able to help diagnose the issues, identify the problem, and then ask our dealers for support. Thereafter, the dealers are always involved. We would be nothing without our dealers, but we believe they are grateful for that extra level of support that we offer to keep the customer satisfied.”

A dealer appreciation dinner is scheduled for 6 p.m. Jan. 13.
