Lippert Components’ (LCI) expansion to La Porte County, Indiana, will create up to 200 new jobs in various product lines at the new 680,000-square-foot facility.
LCI’s heartbeat is present in Elkhart, Indiana, Director of Human Resources Jaycee Galarno said. However, an expansion in Westville at the Midwest Trade Center building gives LCI opportunity to tap into an additional workforce.
The company expects 40 new job openings to be available immediately after the expansion completes Jan. 18, 2021. In addition, some existing team members will be transferring, allowing them to be closer to home, she said.
LCI will host a hiring event from 12 to 6 p.m. CST Dec. 15 at the La Porte County Civic Center. The company is working with the county’s economic development team to create job opportunities throughout the area.
“We’re hoping for a great turnout,” Galarno said. “We’re excited to expand and have great people, tapping into a new workforce.”
The company plans to move its manufactured doors assembly, operating in Goshen, to the new facility to expand LCI’s window manufacturing. Window manufacturing will remain at the Goshen plant.
“It’s a great product line to be able to separate,” Galarno said about the manufactured doors. “… It’s a space [LCI] will grow into. The first product line [at the new facility] will be the doors, and we’ll move more product lines throughout the year.”
Jobs in labor, maintenance, machine operation and more will be available throughout different product lines, starting with manufactured housing doors. Galarno said LCI plans to pay $14 to $16 hourly, which can increase based on experience.
