Pressure Systems International (P.S.I.) has been sold to Clarience Technologies, the parent company of several brands serving commercial transportation.

The acquisition includes P.S.I. and Truck System Technologies (TST), both located in San Antonio.

P.S.I. will operate as a distinct business unit and current President and CEO Tim Musgrave will continue to lead the business.

P.S.I. was owned for 30 years by the Berry family of Corpus Christi, Texas. Recently, Musgrave said the opportune time came for the Berrys to sell. He said he worked with the Berry family to choose Clarience from a group of similar offers because the choice was best for P.S.I.

“Clarience is a billion-dollar company with over 3,000 employees. They purchase leaders in the industry and they leave them alone,” Musgrave said. “Yes, they are there if you need them for technologies or robotics. You can go to them and they have different companies that can get you up to speed on areas that you are not familiar with or with new technologies.”

Incentives, wages and bonuses for P.S.I’s current employees will not change.

“They are letting us operate exactly the same way we did before,” Musgrave said.

Clarience said the purchase would expand the company’s technology portfolio to include tire-related technologies gaining widespread adoption as commercial fleets shift toward electric vehicles.

“As electric vehicle fleets seek to maximize range and minimize downtime, tire rolling resistance plays an increasingly important role in determining EV range,” said Brian Kupchella, Clarience Technologies CEO. “P.S.I. is an industry innovator that expands our technology capabilities, making the company a strong, strategic fit with Clarience Technologies.”

P.S.I. expanded into the RV market in 2017 after buying TST. TST offers the only OEM-approved, factory-installed tire pressure monitoring system for travel trailers, the companies said, a system available through Thor, Forest River and Airstream.

“In 1993, we imagined a better way for fleets to keep their tires at the correct tire pressure. We realized quickly that we were doing more than forming a new company; we were launching a new industry,” Musgrave said. “Now, as part of Clarience Technologies, we can continue delivering future innovations to transportation.”

Michigan-based Clarience Technologies is the parent company of brands including Rigid Industries, an LED lighting provider serving the off-road RV market. Clarience’s Road Ready brand has worked closely with P.S.I. as part of its LogIQ smart partner network. The network is an industry leaders group providing truck and trailer health data to fleet customers through Road Ready’s interface.

The company focuses on developing vehicle and fleet management technology innovations for the commercial vehicle, passenger car, recreational off-road machine and pleasure craft markets.

P.S.I. is an automatic tire inflation systems supplier providing tire pressure monitoring systems and related products for commercial trucks and trailers. The company also supplies TPMS to the RV market under the TST brand. P.S.I. is based in San Antonio and exports to 45 countries.
