Rob Jackson jumps out of bed with excitement for the day ahead.

“I still wake up every day,” he said, “with the same youthful exuberance as I did when I started back in the ’80s.”

Jackson, who recently was named the president of Wakarusa, Indiana-based Horizon Transport, has been in the RV transportation industry for decades. He brings experience and passion for his career to his new role.

Jackson grew up in a trucking family in Philadelphia. He worked at Morgan Driveway through the 1980s and ’90s and joined Horizon Transport in 2002. The company provides RV transportation and delivery. He most recently was Wave Express’ director of strategic planning.

Through his experience, Jackson has honed a passion for serving customers. He brings various skills to the table, including leadership, technology understanding and experience. His industry experience honed his recognition of customer needs and strategies to meet them.

Horizon said Jackson’s “depth of industry knowledge, combined with his passion for innovation and employee empowerment, makes him the ideal candidate to lead Horizon Transport into its next phase of growth and success.”

Jackson will oversee day-to-day operations. His goals include growing the company technologically and strengthening the Horizon team.

Jackson said, “The ultimate objective for me would be to invest in employees.”

Horizon pours into its employees through resources such as an L3Harris driving simulator to enhance safety, customer service training and team-building opportunities.

The company transitioned to an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) in 2023. Company profits are allocated to owners.

Jackson said, “It allows for all the employees to prosper and to build wealth for them and their families for generations to come.”

Jackson said the plan brought the company a refreshed energy.

When Jackson is not pursuing excellence at Horizon, he can be found on camping adventures with his family. The Jackson family travels in a 2022 Cherokee Grey Wolf travel trailer.
