Shasta RV’s manufacturing process changed dramatically last month with the introduction of UFP Factory Built’s Brawn wall system.
The company said Brawn’s single-piece wall system was integrated into production June 13. RV dealers will get a look at the innovation next week during Coachmen RV’s dealer preview in Middlebury, Indiana.
Shasta RV General Manager Meg Grierson said, “Our customers are value-conscious, but they do not want to compromise on quality. By partnering with UFP Factory Built on Brawn, we are giving our buyers structural integrity they can count on. From ease of towing to long-term durability, these walls deliver real benefits you can feel.”
Brawn’s sidewalls arrive at the manufacturer in one piece, which Shasta said, brings next-generation sidewall construction to Shasta’s travel trailers.
Shasta said traditional manual, wood-stapled construction leads to inconsistency and weak points.
UFP Factory Built Brand Manager Mitul Chandrani said the single-piece wall idea came from a summit with Forest River executives.
“One of the things that came up was the construction of the sidewalls,” Chandrani said. “It is time-consuming. We looked at how we could make it easier for Forest River, for manufacturers, to have a solid frame in place.”
Brawn sidewalls are built at the UFP factory using computer numerical control (CNC) machines to ensure precision. The walls are built to the precise length needed for each travel trailer’s floorplan. The walls are shipped to Shasta, where a large crane is used to lower the walls into place on the trailer frame.
Chandrani said, “It is stronger and gives it more rigidity. I think the most important thing is the benefit to the end user.”
The Brawn single-piece wall system is exclusive to Shasta RV for one year.
The Brawn single-piece wall system is manufactured in Elkhart, Indiana.
