To ensure durability, Andersen Hitches’ new fifth wheel hitch withstood 900,000 dynamic testing cycles, pushing the hitch from front to back, side to side and up and down. The product additionally underwent forward, vertical and downward pressure static testing, all to uphold the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) standard J2638.

Andersen Hitches Sales Director Spencer Anderson said, “We met those standards with flying colors.”

The supplier is introducing its upgraded Ultimate Fifth Wheel Connection to the general public this spring with new features.

“We wanted to come out with the most universal hitch on the market,” Anderson said, “one that is going to cover as many bases as we possibly can.”

The lightweight hitch weighs just 40 pounds, shattering standard hitches’ normal weight, Anderson said.

The hitch can accommodate short beds, long beds, short pinboxes and extended pinboxes.

The hitch’s footprint was reduced by 6 inches, three on each side, to free truck bed space.

Anderson said, “People want to have their truck bed back.”

The aluminum hitch has a gross towing weight rating of 24,000 pounds and a 4,500-pound tongue capacity. The hitch features an adjustable ball height, a breakaway brake cable connection and carrying handles. According to Anderson, the hitch can be installed by one technician with an easily explained installation.

Anderson said the hitch additionally promotes drivability.

Anderson said, “It is so smooth of a ride, you are almost to the point where you are looking back at your trailer to see if it is still back there.”

An elevated hitch and funnel system ease the hitching process. The coupling system includes a T-handle to place and lock the hitch. The Ultimate Fifth Wheel Connection includes a lifetime warranty.
