The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is inviting all travel trailer manufacturers to a virtual briefing March 31.

The session will be hosted by the Institute for Building Technology and Safety (IBTS). FEMA is seeking feedback on new, accessible travel trailer designs.

RVIA noted the briefing is only for information and is not a solicitation by FEMA.

The event will begin at 2 p.m. ET. Interested parties can register by clicking here.

IBTS’ team of engineers and designers worked with FEMA the past several months to develop proposed designs meeting accessibility guidelines and striving to give occupants a comfortable, welcoming environment. The goal, IBTS stated, is for the designs to be attractive for RV manufacturers to produce.

During the virtual briefing, the IBTS team will present initial accessible designs and ask for feedback from travel trailer manufacturers through an online survey.

RV industry feedback is incredibly important to this effort, RVIA stated, as it will be used to shape the final design and approach for these travel trailers.

Once registered, attendees will receive email instructions for attending the briefing. For more, contact Karen Johnson, IBTS Market Engagement Program Director, at [email protected] or 571-357-4820.
