General RV Center Joins Local Cleanup Effort

General RV Center employees rolled up their sleeves to make a difference in the city of Detroit through the Six Day Project, hosted by Life Remodeled.

The multi-day volunteer project works to clean up blight and beautify the Cooley Community on Detroit’s northwest side.

On October 5, nearly 30 members of General RV’s marketing department joined forces with more than 5,000 other volunteers during the six-day event to mow lawns, rake leaves and clean up over 500 lots.

For nearly a decade, Life Remodeled has worked to create lasting revitalization, turning vacant properties into community hubs. This is the second year General RV, a Life Remodeled sponsor, has worked with the Detroit non-profit.

Alicia Gewinner, General RV’s director of marketing and advertising, said: “The General RV marketing department worked alongside thousands of volunteers in Detroit to join Life Remodeled in their effort to erase blight and help those who need it most. Sixty years ago, General RV Center opened its first location in Detroit, and it was only appropriate that we returned to give back to a community that helped our company get its start.”

Since 2014, more than 77,000 volunteers working on more than 2,000 city blocks in Detroit joined Life Remodeled, thanks to corporate and philanthropic support.
