For the Salzburn family, 60 degrees below zero is ideal weather to get the family together and enjoy their RV.

Go RVing’s newest story, which debuted in the platform’s Marketing Minute newsletter this month, features Jeremy Salzburn, his family and a special RV called an “ice fish house.” Inside, the Salzburns can be sheltered from the elements while ice fishing within the unit.

“While the temperatures on the 2-foot-thick frozen lake were chilly, the atmosphere inside [the family’s] Glacier House RV was a snug 72 degrees,” Go RVing stated in regard to the family’s hobby.

Ice fish houses are lightweight and easy to tow into place, Go RVing stated. They have specially made floors with several ice holes throughout the RV that can be opened and closed. The unit’s interior features basic bathroom and kitchen amenities and can sleep 2-6 people.

Go RVing noted that ice fish houses are climate controlled and some models have full entertainment systems. The unit’s average cost ranges from $5,000 to $30,000, and typically is 6 to 30 feet long.

“If the winter’s subfreezing temperatures make you dream of dropping a line in the ice, there is no need to spend all your time in the elements,” Go RVing stated. “Fish Houses are a great way to stay sheltered from the cold and spend time with friends while you wait on your tip-ups.”
