Go RVing’s Real Trends Report for September detailed homeschooling trends that could affect RV buying.

Go RVing cited a national report saying 72% of families who homeschooled during 2020’s pandemic planned to continue in the fall as in-person schooling options returned. Another source found a 55% increase in applications for people to create their own private school than the same time a year ago.

Finally, Go RVing cited a Census Bureau report that found Black families’ homeschooling in 2020 increased five times from previous levels. The total was the highest among any racial or ethnic group.

“The pandemic has changed the way that families approach school, especially with Black families who have been hit particularly hard by the remote learning shift caused by COVID-19,” Go RVing said. “With the increase in homeschool slated to continue into the fall among diverse families, this could create a larger pool of people who would be able to take advantage of an RV during the school year.”

The Real Trends Report also found evidence Snapchat was moving beyond social media functionality. A report found 44% of Snapchatters using Snap Map to find new places they were interested in visiting.

“Snapchat is expanding beyond their social media-sharing platform into travel recommendations,” Go RVing said. “Users can see where their friends have been and find places to visit, opening up opportunities for businesses to advertise. This service would be particularly useful for RVers and for campgrounds to advertise their services as travelers make their way around the U.S.”
