Torklift has launched its 13th annual Turkey Challenge, a city-wide food and fundraising drive running through Nov. 16 in Kent, Washington.
The initiative was formally recognized by a Kent City Council proclamation during the council’s Oct. 7 meeting. Torklift Turkey Challenge organizer Jasmyne Faborito said the campaign has made an extraordinary impact on the community.
“This proclamation celebrates the community spirit that Kent’s residents and businesses who work together to uplift their neighbors and provide hope during Thanksgiving,” Faborito said. “We invite everyone to join us in making this year the most successful Turkey Challenge yet.”
Since the Turkey Challenge’s inception, Torklift said the event has rallied hundreds of local residents and businesses to support the Kent Food Bank. The company said it hopes to collect 10,000 pounds of food and $20,000 in monetary donations for families in need through the 2025 campaign. In the past 12 years, the Turkey Challenge delivered more than $200,000 and 75,000 pounds of food to the Kent Food Bank.
Non-perishable food and monetary gift donations may be made at participating locations throughout Kent.
Kent Mayor Dana Ralph said, “I do not know that we can count the number of Kent residents that have been blessed by the generosity of this community and the commitment from Torklift Central to making sure families have what they need for the holidays.”
