Jayco Awarded Patent for Raised Fifth Wheel Kitchen

Middlebury, Indiana-based Jayco received a patent that claims a design for a raised kitchen in a fifth wheel.

Invented by Mike Aplin, the company’s director of product development in the luxury fifth wheel sector, the design is incorporated into the Jayco Seismic 4113 toy hauler.

The design includes an elevated kitchen isolated from the unit’s living room, which provides the user a “compartmentalized feel” compared with the kitchen built in the living space. Jayco stated an additional, related patent is pending.

This is Aplin’s second patent in the Seismic series.

“I would like to thank the entire Jayco Luxury Team, from engineering to operations to the purchasing team, for supporting me in developing this design,” Aplin said.

Jayco was issued two patents invented by Aplin, which claim inventions relating to vehicle container mounting arrangements. One such design is found in the Seismic outside tailgater camp kitchen
