New Kampgrounds of America (KOA) locations are on the horizon. In 2023 the organization sealed deals on 12 independent park conversions and eight new construction contracts.

The new projects boosted the number of KOA-branded locations across North America to 511. The 20 agreements were 14 more than 2022.

KOA Chief Acquisition Officer Chris Fairlee said, “KOA is the go-to partner for conversion and new build campgrounds. The equation is easy for owners to see how our brand and services set them up for success and create operational efficiencies.”

The organization expects more expansions in 2024. KOA is in the process of finalizing details for six park conversions, building 26 new franchise campgrounds and identifying three properties marked for development.

KOA President and CEO Toby O’Rourke said, “Our comprehensive range of services, from marketing and KOA.com to campground design and our proprietary property management system, K2, are undoubtedly valuable at every stage of our franchisees’ business lifecycle.”

KOA’s franchise renewal rate is currently at 95%. O’Rourke said their renewal rate and new additions are a clear indication KOA is meeting campers’ and franchisees’ needs.
