Thor Industries’ towable manufacturer Keystone RV debut its new fifth wheel line, dubbed the Arcadia, at the Florida RV SuperShow on Jan. 13.

President Jeff Runels and other company executives revealed the unit’s two floorplans, a three-quarter ton 3660 and half-ton 3250, which are on display at the show until Sunday.

With more than a year of development, Keystone said the Arcadia, formerly referred to as “Project Omaha,” is the most researched and prototyped project the company has undertaken.

“[Runels] challenged the team to identify the pain points in every single aspect for design, engineering, materials and construction with the stated goal of building leapfrog improvement or identifying a best-in-class solution for all aspects of the coach,” Keystone stated.

Keystone said Arcadia’s nationwide distribution will begin next week. The manufacturer said it will update its website daily to reveal cities and dealers receiving the new models.

The Arcadia line is built with a new chassis design, featuring a crawl space that runs the coach’s length and width. Keystone said the chassis allows for heat ducts, plumbing and electrical to be laid out efficiently and flexibility to keep heating vents in the floor, rather than the cabinets.

“The Keystone Innovation Lab has tackled a number of long-standing manufacturing and operational barriers over the last several years,” the company stated.

Keystone noted components such as color-coded wiring, HyperDeck composite flooring, high-performance air handling and floorplan-specific frames that are aimed at simplified operation and owner experience. Increasing quality and eliminating potential failure points are the goal, Keystone stated.

“From this mentality, discussions began about the larger structural and manufacturing limitations that were holding fifth wheels, and all towable trailers for that matter, back from meeting the evolving needs of campers,” Keystone stated. “It was clear that any new fifth wheel approach needed to support a growing number of owners who are interested in both longer trips and dry camping.”

The Arcadia product line has more storage and fresh water than other models to suit consumers who like longer, off-grid trips, the company stated. More than 100 gallons of fresh water are in every three-quarter ton model. Keystone secured the master bed so it would not move with the bed slide, allowing the manufacture to add an extra fresh water tank underneath.

The unit’s bulkhead storage is 2 inches deeper than standard. The redesigned upper deck is large, partially because of the front cap’s raised nose height, Keystone stated.

Other Arcadia features include stronger and lighter laminated floors, Keystone stated, as well as MaxTurn Technology, which provides an additional 8 inches of turning radius than the standard tube design. Modern, custom-designed furniture and cabinets are included.

All units are prepped and wired for optional solar power, with two roof ports supporting panels that are four 300W or higher.
