Canadian camping gear supplier Kuma has a new flashlight coming to market.

The company describes the Northstar LED Flexlite as ultra-versatile, with three LED light modes and two 2,000 milliampere-hour (mAh) 3.7 lithium rechargeable batteries.

The three light modes produce 700, 1,200 and 2,000 lumens across three adjustable LED light arms. The arms can direct light at 360 degrees.

“A magnetic base, adjustable hook and tripod mount option make it easy to set up anywhere with no fumbling and light where you need it the most,” Kuma said. “Water resistant and built for real outdoor use, it is the kind of reliable campsite companion that makes nighttime tasks easier.”

Kuma said Northstar’s Ingress Protection (IP) rating of 54 indicates the device is protected against dust and can handle water splashing from any direction.

An IP rating is an international standard used to describe how well electronic devices are sealed against intrusion from solid particles and liquids. The first IP rating digit indicates, on a scale of one to six, how well a device is protected against solid objects. The second number measures resistance to liquids on a scale of one to nine.

Kuma said the flashlight’s batteries recharge from dead to fully charged in 3.5 hours. The flashlight has a five-and-a-half-hour runtime on low light, three hours on medium, and two hours on full power.

The Northstar Flexlite is just over 8 inches long and weighs 1.75 pounds.

Kuma said the Northstar LED Flexlite will be available in March.
