Lion Energy, a solar and power products supplier to the RV industry, said the company hit a milestone on its quest to become completely U.S.-based after the latest development from Lion Energy’s partner, American Battery Factory (ABF).

Lion Energy chairman and co-founder Jim Ge said adding a scalable, onshore battery supplier for high-quality lithium batteries is the missing link for energy independence.

“We cannot move to an entirely green energy economy as a country without U.S.-made lithium batteries,” Ge said. “As one of the fastest-growing pack integrators, Lion Energy is elated to diversify our supply through ABF to address a host of applications that need and require U.S.-made LFP batteries.”

ABF announced last week it would build the company’s first gigafactory in Tucson, Arizona. The factory, located on 267 acres in the Aerospace Research Campus in Pima County, is expected to be built within the next 18 to 24 months.

Among other products, the ABF plant will produce lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cells designed for a range of Lion Energy solutions, Lion Energy said.

ABF’s batteries are used in Lion’s portable solar generators, and residential, commercial and utility grid-level lithium battery-based energy storage systems.
