California-based RV manufacturer Evotrex released a digital tool that can help consumers better determine their resource needs before traveling.
The company said its new Off-Grid Calculator is designed to model realistic energy and water use. The calculator provides consumers with a “realistic view of off-grid autonomy.”
Evotrex co-founder and Head of North America Stella Qin said the calculator is built to reflect real-world travel rather than idealized conditions.
“One of the biggest challenges in the market today is the confusion surrounding off-grid capability claims,” Qin said. “Campers are presented with impressive numbers, but there is rarely a clear explanation of the assumptions, variables or formulas behind them.”
Qin said the Off-Grid Calculator replaces guesswork with data-driven projections.
“We created this transparent calculator to simplify [capability] claims,” Qin said, “giving travelers a straightforward, data-backed way to understand exactly what their off-grid experience will look like.”
The calculator models energy based on daily appliance use and adjusts solar projections based on the weather conditions. The calculator forecasts water consumption, provides kilowatt-hour projections and includes extended-stay scenarios.
