New Office of Defects Investigation Division Leaders Named

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration

The National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) named new leaders within its Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) divisions.

RVIA said its members often interact with three ODI divisions: Medium and Heavy-Duty Vehicle, Recall Management and Trends Analysis. All three have new division chiefs who started Feb. 1.

Josh Neff will oversee the Medium and Heavy-Duty Vehicle division, Alex Ansley will oversee Recall Management and Jeff Quandt will head the Trends Analysis division.

“These three divisions are critical to the RV industry,” RVIA stated. “They help our members stay compliant with their regulatory obligations and share the goal of ensuring the safety of the RV consumer.”

The Medium and Heavy-Duty Vehicle Division investigates alleged safety defects and determines whether a recall is necessary, RVIA stated. The Recall Management division ensures an appropriate scope, adequate recall completion rate and remedy. To collect and analyze Early Warning Reporting data, along with other information gathered from sources, the Trends Analysis division works to identify trends and possible safety concerns within the industries it regulates.

In discussions with ODI’s director, RVIA stated it learned that all three division chiefs are former chiefs within different ODI divisions. They have several years of experience within ODI, RVIA stated.

“The RV Industry Association looks forward to engaging with Neff, Ansley and Quandt, and hope they will be able and available to engage the RV Industry Association members during future programs and events, including the annual Regulatory & Safety Compliance Seminar as well as future virtual engagements,” RVIA stated.
