The Dyrt 2026 Camping Report estimated more consumers went camping in 2025 than in any year other than 2023.

For the third year in a row, the report found that RVs were consumers’ most popular way to camp.

The report indicated that an estimated 82.4 million Americans went camping in 2025. The report said the total is second only to the 84.8 million consumers who camped in 2023. The report showed that 2.6 million people camped for the first time last year.

The report said 52.2% of consumers who camped took at least one trip in an RV.

Older consumers were the most likely to camp in an RV. The report found that 64% of consumers who camped in an RV were 65 or older, with 55% between 55 and 64, 47% between 45 and 54, and 38% between 35 and 44.

The report indicated camping with pets is trending up. Nearly half (49.7%) of respondents said they brought their dogs with them when traveling.

Consumers also traveled with parrots, guinea pigs, horses, cats, hamsters, rabbits and ducks.

Approximately 10% of consumers who camp reported using artificial intelligence (AI) to plan a camping trip in 2025. An additional 10% said they planned to use AI to plan a trip in the future.

The report states that one in three consumers who camp have used satellite internet while travelling. That ratio is up from one in four in 2024.

Over half of consumers who camp say they will try satellite internet in the coming year.
