Outside Van, which announced in April plans to build a pair of Type B motorhome models, said dealer deliveries of one model started with the other model expected this year.

The facility building the Type B motorhomes, known as “Outside Van South” for its proximity to Outside Van’s current facility, is a 130,000-square-foot building.

The first motorhome built at Outside Van South is the Approach, a 2023 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 170 AWD chassis that seats and sleeps up to four. The motorhome includes a modular dinette, a full galley kitchen and an interior shower.

The second model, the Syncline, is built on the 2023 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 144 AWD chassis while providing seating and sleeping for two.

The manufacturer said both models were designed from practical experience, built by leading craftspeople, and utilize industry-leading components.

Susan Clemo, Outside Van’s CEO, said: “We have never been a company to stay the same, to do only what we are comfortable with. Our beginnings were in tackling each custom build with its unique quirks and one-of-a-kind features. … Our experience in the deep end of adventure van conversions has prepared us for the more traditional route of model production while maintaining our commitment to high-end quality.”

The Syncline’s official release of Syncline is expected to come in the fourth quarter of 2023.

With plenty of space for four adults, Engineering Director Tim Wimmer said Approach will be an excellent choice for families and RVers with lots of gear to haul.

“The most common chassis size we build on is a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 170,” Wimmer said. “We wanted to get the most approachable van out to our community first. As production of our first 144, Syncline ramps up, we have already learned a lot which will make for smoother sailing with this build.”
